Hyundai Venue: Parking Brake System / Parking Brake Cable. Repair procedures
[Rear Drum Brake Type]
1. |
Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

2. |
Release the parking brake.
|
3. |
Remove the floor console assembly.
(Refer to Body - "Floor Console")
|
4. |
Loosen the parking cable adjust nut (A).
|
5. |
Separate the parking brake cable(B) from the Equalizer assembly (A).

|
Parking brake lever in the car must be in fully loosened
position.
|
|
|
6. |
Remove the rear drum brake.
(Refer to Brake System - "Rear Drum Brake")
|
7. |
Remove the clip (A).
|
8. |
Remove the rear parking cable bracket mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque :
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)

9. |
Remove the floor under cover (A).
Tightening torque :
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)

10. |
Loosen the parking brake cable bracket bolts (A) and remove the parking
brake cable.
Tightening torque :
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)

[Rear Disc Brake Type]
1. |
Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
|
2. |
Release the parking brake.
|
3. |
Remove the floor console assembly.
(Refer to Body - "Floor Console")
|
4. |
Loosen the parking cable adjust nut (A).
|
5. |
Separate the parking brake cable(B) from the Equalizer assembly (A).

|
Parking brake lever in the car must be in fully loosened
position.
|
|
|
6. |
Loosen the wheel nuts slightly.
Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
|
7. |
Remove the rear wheel and tire (A) from the rear hub.
Tightening torque :
107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb-ft)

|
Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing
the rear wheel and tire (A).
|
|
|
8. |
Disconnect the parking cable (B) after remove the parking brake cable
fixing clip (A).
|
9. |
Loosen the mounting bolt (A) and than remove the parking cable bracket.
Tightening torque :
19.6 - 29.4 N.m (2.0 - 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 - 21.7 lb-ft)

10. |
Remove the floor under cover (A).
Tightening torque :
3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb-ft)
|

11. |
Loosen the parking brake cable mouting bolts and then remove the parking
brake cable (A).
Tightening torque :
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)

[Rear Drum Brake Type]
1. |
Depress the brake pedal several times to set the self-adjusting brake.
•
|
For Drum Brake type, shoe clearance is automatically
adjusted by the adjuster and adjusting lever.
|
|
|
[Rear Disc Brake Type]
1. |
To install, reverse removal procedure.
|
2. |
Tension the parking brake cable by tightening the adjusting nut, until
the operating levers on both calipers lift from the stop, up to a distance
of (A) and (D) between operating lever (B) and stopper (C).
Distance (A + D) : Max. 3 mm (0.12 in)
|
|
3. |
Release the parking brake lever fully, and check that parking brakes
do not drag when the rear wheels are turned. Readjust if necessary.
|
4. |
Make sure that the parking brakes are fully applied when the parking
brake lever is pulled up fully.
|
Removal
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2.
Release the parking brake...
Other information:
Push the switch to turn the light on or off.
: The lamp will turn on if
this button is pressed.
: The lamp will turn off if
this button is pressed.
NOTICE
Always have the switch in the off position when the vanity mirror lamp is
not in use...

When throttle value is stuck at 5°, engine speed is limited
at below 1,500 rpm and vehicle speed at maximum 40 - 50 km/h
(25 - 31mph)...

Do not hit or allow any objects to impact the locations where air bags
or sensors are installed.
Do not perform maintenance on or around the air bag sensors. If the location
or angle of the sensors is altered, the air bags may deploy when they should
not or may not deploy when they should.
Do not install bumper guards or replace the bumper with a nongenuine
HYUNDAI parts. This may adversely affect the collision and air bag deployment
performance.
Place the ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF or ACC position when the vehicle
is being towed to prevent inadvertent air bag deployment.
Have all air bag repairs conducted by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
